FLSmidth has selected Toni Laaksonen to serve as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately, based out of its Copenhagen corporate headquarters.
Laaksonen, who first joined the company as Service Business Line president in June 2025, replaces Mikko Keto, who announced in November 2025 that he planned to step down from his post.
Laaksonen, a seasoned executive in the global mining technology and services industry, brings more than 15 years of international leadership experience across large-scale service and product operations and customer-centric organisations, FLS said.
In addition to assuming the role as CEO, Laaksonen will, on an interim basis, maintain his previous role as Service Business Line president.
Keto will now step down from his role and leave FLSmidth with immediate effect.
The company noted alongside the transition that, following several years of restructuring, FLSmidth is now poised to enter its next phase of strategic and operational development, focused on accelerating growth, enhancing commercial execution, improving the customer experience, continuing cost discipline and strengthening organizational culture.

Laaksonen said he has long admired FLSmidth for its leading technologies, strong service offerings and highly skilled people.
